- Salmon is the only survivor (from his line) of the Exodus: all of age 20 and over at the time of the Exodus will not enter the land of Canaan, as a judgement for their murmurings (Numbers 14:29).
- Although his age and role is not mentioned, he is likely to be 25-30 years of age. He might have been one of the spies that promise Rahab to be spared.
- Rahab must have been young when she met Salmon and married him. Ages are not mentioned in the Bible. They are the parents of Boaz, who later marries Ruth.
- Boaz must have been an older aged man, when he married Ruth: he was wealthy and he must have had authority in Bethlehem.
- The birth years of Salmon, Boaz, Obed and Jesse are rough estimates.
- The time between the fall of Jericho (around 1400BC) and the birth of David was 360 years. Assuming that Rahab may not have been older than 60 years when she gave birth to Boaz, the following 3 generations (Obed, Jesse and David) must have given birth to their sons at an average age of 100 years. Boaz might have been between 80 and 125 when he had Obed, Obed was 125 when he had Jesse and David was Jesse’s youngest son.
